Looking at doing the kracky method with Lettuce to start.

My question is how do I get starts?

Do I need to get little soil pods and get a good stand with roots before putting the system?

I’m doing some tomatoes from seed. I’m a newbie as well. Trying rock wool cubes in mini greenhouse starter trays. A pack of 20 trays was around $18 on Amazon. I plan to transfer the cubes right into the net cups and surround them with media. Seems simple enough, hopefully it works well.

I use this method and provide light and warmth using a t12 fluorescent fixture just above the humidity dome.

I started with kratky lettuce in Mason jars with great results. I started seeds in rockwool cubes. Once roots came out the bottom I transplanted into the jars with nutrient level just touching the bottom of rockwool. Topped off nutrients about once per week. Here are my plants at 4 or 5 weeks.
