This was a grow in roaster pan "hydroponic" of basil. We LOVE basil, and having fresh during the winter is great! I have been experimenting with different hydroponic set ups, but saw you can germinate seeds in clay pellets and then move them to the hydroponic set up, instead of starting them in rock wool, etc from the beginning.

I put a good layer of clay pebbles (at least an inch) in a tin roaster pan and wet them with a spray bottle, spread way too many basil seeds. When I moved some seedlings to other hydroponic set ups, I had ALOT of basil seedlings and not enough room to move them all...so I just left them in the roasting pan, and kept watering with my Floragro nutrients. Careful not to let it run dry, I also didnt want to drown the roots, so try and keep an inch or so of water. They are growing like weeds! I'm thrilled and will keep this going as long as it produces!

I love growing basil and make simple syrups with mine all the time. This seems like a great idea that doesn’t take up too much space.
