I am 100% knew to hydroponics besides taking cuttings and starting them in a cloning solution.

I’m looking at hydro system for growing mint, basil, rosemary and maybe some other things. Where do I start?

Online, YouTube...books from Amazon....

what did u do to start
    • Priscilla Knight
There so many different methods online but here in this page we can just ask u or other people that have had success

studying online and mocking up smaller systems. Bootstrap Farmer has courses now that I would recommend.

exactly I follow a bunch of people on YouTube and wanted to know how some of you start.

I like Bootstrap Farmer. I want his high tunnel kit eventually when I have the money to invest in one

yes, but did you learn how you need to correct the problems? My first wasnt great either. Doing better this fall/winter, tho.

the seeds grew and I transferred them into coconut husk and then they slowly dies off not sure if I moved em to fast or not

I had them in seed trays and I think that maybe I needed a better method of where to put them after that’s the only thing I can think of but I’m gonna try again
Your main consideration should be: How much do you want to spend, how much space do you have, how much time can you spend on your plants, what are your weather conditions and the list goes on and on. There are different hydroponic methods/systems so I suggest Google the different systems and learn what you can grow in it and then make an informed decision. Just a friendly warning dont believe everything on Google. I do the Kratky system and some articles says it takes an hour to set-up and you hardly need to check on it. Haha think again life happens and you need to stay on top of your system or otherwise just drop the complete excercise.

Well said Barry So many variables Maybe start with kratky system
Kratky. Love to start with Kratky. It's easy and can build confidence. Low maint, low start up cost just Mason jars and nutrient solution, can put anywhere there's light.

I like this idea looks simple

My Kratky ‘went sour’ with only nutrients, smelled like rot, new start with H2O2, hoping for the best. Or did I do something wrong? Using an organic fertilizer, brown fluid.

I can't speak to organic nutrients. I use chemical nutrients from masterblend

      I’m gonna do this
Basil very easy to grow neatly and I'm also growing in clay pebbles where I germinated them (was an accidental experiment to keep them going) I imagine mint would grow like a weed!
