Are Dutch bucket systems considered hydroponics? If so, anyone ever use this style of bucket? Success? Failure? Tips?
Yes I use Dutch buckets. Most of us make our own as the real bato buckets are quite pricey! If you find a good price I’d love to know!

what do you recommend for a pump? Will a large plastic container work for a reservoir?

The system in the front of the picture is only 8 buckets, so the smaller (about 30 gal) bin works well.
what would the valving and plumbing look like from the pump to regulate flow? Curious your thoughts
are those paint bucket filters? I was going to order those to keep perlite from clogging stuff
yes each bucket has one and I put the pump in one as well. Give me a few minutes to answer your other question. We have sunrise. I’ll head out for pics
The pump is connected to half-inch tubing are Chuchu. Each bucket is fed by a 1/4” with an “sprinkler“ so that it can be turned off if the bucket is not in use. The only flow regulation in the entire system is that the half-inch tubing is run as a loop so that the first bucket on the bench gets just as much water as the last bucket.My smaller system is eight buckets and the largest is 15. The only regulation I use is the loop to ensure even watering
Also the water bottles under the bench are for passive heating.

There excellent, but easy and cheaper to make your own, you can buy the brain separately for them.. DWC all the way..

my goal for 2020 is to provide enough fruit/vegetables to feed 4 adults for 2/3 of their food volume by mass. I have not committed to growing year round. I can always can food to meet my goals. Greenhouse is 10x20 zone 6b.
Tomatoes
Cucumbers
Peppers
Squash
Watermelons outside of greenhouse
Romaine lettuce
Whatever else makes sense, indoors, outdoors etc.
where do you live..? As in country.. What are the day light hours where you live..?
southern Indiana, it’s got full southern exposure
I should also ask what the standard of soil is in your area..?
