Doesn’t need to be plugged in, you see. Super effective perfect solar system. no cables, no mains power needed, just a fusion of elegance and functionality. So I say! And super productive. I get 1,000 tomatoes in a single grow run. 1500 chillies. Yes, I’m still eating them....

that is a plus then but it does need to be connected to get the sun to power the pump

    • Jonathan Martin

actually it works without any direct sunlight, I’m very pleased with it.

    • Liam Duncan

I would be too I have five solar pumps I am just about to connect a a solar Panel to see if they will work

    • Marcia Hayes Paradis

can we please see more about this planter? How tall? Homemade or purchased? Link to site?

    • Jonathan Martin

Took about two years from first design sketches to product in inventory. I participated in a commercial vertical hydroponic growing system project in Africa a few years back and having looked at everything else out there decided I’d design something better.

    • Marcia Hayes Paradis

well, I surely bet this smart invention of yours is very functional and practical. More power to you and pls continue your journey. Small or big or simple can make a big diff. I hope u find great investors so you can mass produce and make more affordable to everyone. And make designs more flexible for people who lives in condo to put solar panel outside for best sun tracking without putting the whole thing outside. Great job!

    • Jonathan Martin

great point. Yes I plan to incorporate an elegant but effective grow light solution for inside - right now I provide the clip on ones with flexible arms - so that it can go inside too. The solar panel outside idea is a good one.

    • Marcia Hayes Paradis

yes! Like here in Ontario, Canada we have only 155 days growing season. Our cold season is longer and daylights becoming shorter and shorter. If the model has a separate solar panel with longer cords that would be fantastic!

    • Jonathan Martin

I’m also launching an elegant ‘mini greenhouse’ with built in heating and lighting. By that you can grow outside all year too. That’s Fall 2020

    • Marcia Hayes Paradis

And you converted it to solar???

    • Jonathan Martin

yes, it has a super rechargeable lithium ion battery, you recharge it like you mobile phone but only once a week. By April the solar package can be added on. So you never have to recharge.

The sun for lighting or to power a pump?

      power the pump

Part of what GroBotics Engineering does is Integrate alternative energy with hydroponic farming... so yes I do it all the time.

let me know. That's the way I would go so I'm curious if it would work before I start buying parts.

suggestion: if you have 120ah you must double the size of your panel.

    • Liam Duncan

      so double it. No problem

    • Chinmin

oh no no, I’m using the 120Ah batt because recycling it. My setup is good enough for my water pump and air pump. No more budget to add more panels
