starting first batch of seeds before moving them to an NFT system. I’m curious if the tall thin stalks of these seedlings is normal or are they not getting enough sunlight? They’re currently inside near a window. I tried them outside, but I’m in a high wind area in the middle of summer (30-40°c) and the potting mix was drying out really quickly.

Definitely need way more direct light. Filtered light through a window is not going to be enough. Can you get a humidity dome to keep the soil from drying out?

They bolted, need more light.

Plants ALWAYS need more light than you think. My rule of thumb is, if you think you have enough, then double it.

Thanks all for the feedback and confirming my suspicions. I am going to trial keeping the seedlings down the eastern side of the house, out of the majority of wind and out of the hotter afternoon sun. I have placed the trays on a tub with a deep lid and have put approx 10-15mm of water on the lid for the trays to sit in. Any concerns with the seedlings having wet feet?
